Sex-Starved Wife Secures Divorce As Court Dissolves 14-Year Old Marriage
An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved the 14-year-old marriage between one Mrs Adeola Adelani and her husband, Olajide, after the wife said she had been sex-starved for eight-years.
Delivering his judgment, the President of the court, Mr Hakeem Oyekan, said that the estranged couple were tired of the marriage and all efforts to reconcile both parties had failed.
“ Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage. The petitioner, Adeola, 39, had approached the court seeking to dissolve her marriage to Olajide for allegedly refusing to make love to her for eight years.
“The couple can no longer stay together because the marriage has broken down totally; both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways.
“Both parties are to keep the peace all the time; any violation of the order should be reported to the police for redress,” Oyekan ruled.
She told the court that she was married to Olajide about 14 years ago and had a 12-year-old son with him.
“My husband refused to make love to me for eight years. I want to have another baby because our son is 12-year-old and I am not satisfied with only one child,’’ she told the court. The petitioner accused her husband of abandoning her and their child for an unknown destination since 2013.
She alleged that her husband had refused to disclose where he lives and where he works, but said that he always sent his son’s school fees and house rent through her bank account.
Adeola said her husband told her pastor that he had married another woman and had children, and that she should find another husband for herself.
The petitioner said she was a sad woman with neighbours referring to her as a “rejected and abandoned property.’’
She begged the court to dissolve the marriage because she wanted to move on with her life.
In his response, Olajide, 45, a businessman, did not deny the allegation of starving his wife of sex.
He said that he refused to make love to his wife because he did not want her to have another baby because the first baby was born through Caesarean Section (CS).
“I don’t want to risk her life because she gave birth through CS, this is why I have distanced myself from her and I want her to take care of our child.
“Besides, I did not abandon my wife, I only decided to move closer to my work place due to the distance from my house.
“I always squat with my friends and I come home once in a while,’’ he said.
He claimed that he had no other wife nor children elsewhere.
Olajide, however, conceded to the dissolution of the marriage because he was also fed up with the union.
What Really Happened At Lagos State University Yesterday
“In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George OrwellIt is imperative at this juncture to make us understand certain things. Lagos State University, the great citadel of Knowledge situated in Ojo area of Lagos State, has had certain issues in the last eight months which had even grounded activities at some period
Yesterday, 20th of August, 2015; a rainy Thursday, we have experienced two different actions at a time. As at 9am yesterday morning, the students’ Union executive had called for a meeting with regard to the purported mass failure of 200l and 300l students offering General Nigerian Studies (GNS). Due to this, an agreement was made by students in attendance to create awareness by blocking the gates of the campuses. It is to be known that this did not affect movement of our lecturers uploading results in the campus.
Therefore, Dr Adekunle Idris, Chairman of ASUU-Lasu, should hold NANS Zone D (SouthWest) for their acts and not the Students’ Union. If our Lecturers think we would stop and hinder them from making us progress, then it cannot be so. I appease all involved to tread softly due to the owing fact that there is a need to avoid a crisis in Lasu especially at this crucial moment when our academic calendar is found wanting.
I applaud both my Union’s Exco act and the actions of NANS Zone D but we all must remember if we do the right thing at the wrong time then there is a problem. For ecery act, we must have the right timing and as such, I beseech them to take cognizance of that fact.
Repositioning Lasu is the duty of all Lasuites and well-wishers of the University. Let’s try our best to work towards that

2 Okada Snatchers Nabbed, Beaten To Death And Set Ablaze In Abuja
Jungle justice was meted out to two suspected motorcycle snatchers by a mob at Mararaba near Abuja recently.
We learnt that one of the suspected thieves was set ablaze around Sharp Corner, near the Abuja - Keffi expressway, while the other was beaten to death with dangerous objects in Kabayi area.
The two men believed to be in their 30s, were said to be members of a notorious gang that specialised in snatching commercial motorcycles popularly called okada
Witnesses said scenes of the incidents were deserted for fear of police arrest.
The witness said thieves operating in groups, have since been terrorising okada riders and causing panic in the neighbourhood.
A witness, who simply identified himself as Mr. Dan, told City News: “I can’t tell you how many okada riders have since fallen victim. These thieves have snatched many okada and they are ever ready to snatch more.”
The witness alleged that the suspects killed some of the riders in the process, “Many of the bikes were bought on hire purchase for as much as N180,000. How do you think the riders or owners can pay this money when the okadas are snatched from them?”
He said luck ran out on the suspects when they tried to escape with a snatched motorcycle. They were tracked by mobs at different locations, he said.
Another witness, Mama Paul, said she didn’t support jungle justice, but the criminal activities of the suspects have become incessant and disturbing to push the mob to that extent.
An okada rider, who pleaded anonymity, said people were tired of seeing the suspects back in the streets few days after their arrest by security operatives. He said that must have led to the mob action instead of reporting to law enforcement agencies.
Reacting to the development, a police source who would not want to be named, said that the police were working within the ambits of the law, and did not release suspects anyhow, but charged them to court after gathering substantial evidence.
At the ‘A’ Division Police Station Mararaba, an officer who does not want his name in print, confirmed the incident and said no arrest was made as both scenes were deserted and nobody came for the dead suspects, adding that the bodies were evacuated and deposited in the mortuary.

Clash Of Ekiti Titans: Fayemi Comes ‘Hard’ On Fayose, Fayose Comes ‘Harder’
After Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi in an interview with some National Newspapers accused the present Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose of destroying the legacies he left behind, the no nonsense Governor has deemed it fit to reply him almost instantly telling him he left no legacy behind, but instead he left huge debts and legacies no rightly thinking government will like to follow.
Fayose also went ahead calling Fayemi a betrayer who even betrayed Tinubu who put him in power. He said APC Ekiti even said the defeat experienced in Ekiti during Fayemi’s tenure was the worst defeat their party has ever experienced but at State and National levels. Trust the governor to table them out one after the other. He tabled all what he calls the former governor’s faults. Find the statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka on behalf of the governor below
“Today, Fayemi has been ostracised by those who assisted him to office because he has betrayed all of them, including Tinubu.
“Never again shall Ekiti be governed by those who will borrow billions of naira to plant flowers and create comfort for themselves alone,” Fayose declared.
“Does he then want us to sustain the legacy of serial betrayal of his benefactors?
“If he served Ekiti and its people well, why was it that he was roundly defeated in all the 16 local councils in the state in the 21 June, 2014 governorship election and his party was also defeated 16 to 0 in the presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly elections?
“Even his own party men described his electoral defeat as the worst in Nigeria.”
He continued; “did Fayemi leave behind any positive legacy in Ekiti?
“When Fayemi became governor, he chose to close down two universities established by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government of Segun Oni and abandoned the Oba Adejugbe General Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, claiming that the state could not fund more than one university.
“The same Fayemi, who said Ekiti had no money to fund more than one university preferred to take N25 billion bond to plant flowers that never germinated up till now and build a new governor’s lodge, civic centre, pavilion and execute other irrelevant projects.
“Furniture alone, in the N3.3 billion governor’s lodge that he built for himself and his wife cost N604.9 million and Fayemi wants such legacy of profligacy to be sustained in Ekiti?
“We are sorry to tell him that we won’t sustain such legacy of waste.“Even vehicles bought for traditional rulers and political appointees, his government did not pay and uncompleted Oba Adejugbe General Hospital and State Pavilion were commissioned with fanfare.
“Today, Ekiti State is under the yoke of debt, courtesy of Fayemi’s mismanagement of the state resources and what we are destroying are those legacies of mis-governance he left behind.
“One bad news that we must however tell Fayemi is that we won’t only destroy his legacy of misgovernance and betrayal in Ekiti, we will also make sure that economic devourers like him will never taste power in the state.”

She said:
“Recently, after several days of abandoning me, I traced my husband to his church in a village not far from Ondo town. On getting there, I met him on the floor of the church office with one of the women in the church. They were having intimacy.”
She said she had reported her husband’s adulterous behaviour to his mother, but he still didn’t change.
She stated that she was fed up with the marriage and wanted it to end.
Doris also accused the husband of having a child outside their marriage.

However, her Husband Mr. Oseni, 45, pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage with his wife, saying he still loved her. He described her as a virtuous woman that had been taking care of him since he married her.
In his ruling, Justice Joshua Adunbi, said the words and body language of the wife had shown that she was tired of the union. He therefore ordered the dissolution of the marriage.
Adunbi added that both parties were free to re-marry any person of their choice and ordered the petitioner to pay the sum of N2,500 to the respondent as a refund of dowry.
He said anyone of the parties that was not satisfied with the decision of the court could appeal the ruling within 30 days.

Albino Foundation demands investigation into member’s death in Lagos
23-year-old albino, Ugochukwu Ugogbua, committed suicide on Sunday Aug 16th. Well yesterday his house was besieged by members of the Albino Foundation, who demanded to know what made him kill himself. There were rumours that Ugo had killed himself because his parents wanted him to join Jehovah's Witnesses, a claim his family has since denied.
The members of the Albino Foundation commiserated with the bereaved family then proceeded to the police station to enquire about the outcome of their investigation on the incident.
At Festac Police Division, Lagos State Coordinator of Albino Foundation, Mrs. Omolala Joseph, said:
It was also gathered that late Ugo’s mother left him and his sister in the care of his aunt in Festac several years ago after the demise of his father. His aunt, who is yet to come to terms with his death, refused to speak with at the police station. Police sources said investigation into the incident was still ongoing.

“We are here on behalf of the national headquarters of Albino Foundation in Abuja to find out what exactly led to the death of our colleague. “Though he was not a registered member of the Foundation, he was an albino like us, therefore, we have a duty to pay a condolence visit to the family, counsel them and orientate them. “Things like this cannot just happen. We need to know the exact cause so as to help re-orientate others.”A member of the family, who simply gave her name as Oluchi, said:
“We have read a lot of reports on my brother’s death. I want to categorically state that he did not kill himself because he was forced to become a Jehovah’s Witnesses member. “It was not also because he was stigmatised as an albino. The truth is that what led him into the act were powers beyond him and he never left any note for us concerning his death.”It was gathered that late Ugochukwu started behaving strangely a few months before he took his life. Corroborating the claim, Oluchi said:
“We discovered a month before his death that he started moving with some boys in the area. Later, he became reserved and then resigned from his job as a dry cleaning attendant. “We started counselling him, unknown to us that he was planning to take his life. We prevented his first attempt when he mixed cement and water and was on the verge of drinking it when he was stopped.”

Parrot arrested in India for insulting owner's elderly stepmother
A parrot in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, was detained by police on Tuesday after an old woman filed a complaint against it for making obscene remarks at her.
Janabai, who is in her 80s, filed the complaint with the police in Rajura city of Chandrapur District, saying the parrot had been tutored by its owner to shower abuses at her whenever she passed by his house.
The parrot, named Hariyal, is owned by Janabai's stepson Suresh. A complaint was also registered against him. Both live separately due to a property dispute.
However, the police said the parrot did not utter a word when his cage was brought near Janabai at the police station so no 'charges' were pressed against it.
As there is no law to imprison a parrot, the police officials handed it over to the forest department officials.

Former speaker rejects his appointment by Fayose
A former factional Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Dele Olugbemi, rejected his nomination by Governor Ayodele Fayose as a member of the House of Assembly Service Commission.
Olugbemi shunned the screening and confirmation of nominees on Wednesday but the four other nominees were confirmed by the Assembly.
Punch
Those whose nominations were confirmed are former Speaker, Olatunji Odeyemi (Chairman), Bode Ajewole, Mrs. Lanre Fajuyi and Muyiwa Fadahunsi.
The Leader of Government Business, Olatunji Akinyele, moved the motion for the amendment of the House of Assembly Service Commission Law 2003 (as amended) “to accommodate nominees from the three senatorial districts.”
It was the fourth amendment to the Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission Law.
This, according to the House, “is to ensure fairness to all the districts and to ensure equitable distribution of positions.”
Reacting to Olugbemi’s non-appearance and rejection of the appointment, the Speaker, Kola Oluwawole, said a nominee could not be forced to accept an offer.
Oluwawole said, “If you offer somebody an appointment and he says no, there will be a replacement because there are so many people yearning for this opportunity.
“People who are very intelligent and qualified are looking for this opportunity and government will ensure that another replacement is made.
“We stepped it down (on Tuesday) because we wanted to ensure that there is a balance in representation on the commission.
“It had to be stepped down to do some necessary adjustments to ensure equity and fair play because every segment of Ekiti State should be made to feel a sense of belonging.
“It is a development we have to address and it has nothing to do with the fact that somebody declined the offer.
“If I am offering you an offer and you say no, you cannot be compelled to serve in a particular agency or commission, it is a matter of choice.”
“It’s no big deal at all, we are to clear the House of Assembly Service Commission board nominees.
“The members have to be five and we are having four nominees now, the fifth person is going to be included so that the confirmation will be done at the same time. That is just the simple reason.”
In regards to why he rejected the appointment, Olugbemi said his action was based on principle.
He added that he was shocked about the manner his appointment as a member of the commission was announced in the media without Fayose first consulting him.
He said,
“I’m a member of the appointment committee. I was shocked to hear my name announced on the radio as being appointed as a member of the commission without my knowledge.
“The governor’s action was against the ethos of democracy and he is simply running a one-man show. Since he came into office, he has been operating without regards to the party.
“I gave so much to defend his mandate but he has shown me no respect at all. I was still wondering about the appointment when he sent a message to me that some people were interested in replacing me in case I reject the offer. Since he had decided to preempt my decision, I did not find it difficult to reject the appointment.
“All I did to defend him during the impeachment plot was to prevent the state from plunging into chaos so I have no regret.”

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the arrest of 2 fuel station owners, Lookman Onabanjo and Lukman Gafan, for allegedly dealing in petroleum products loaded from vandalised pipelines.
50-year-old Onabanjo and Gafan, 52, are the Chief Executive Officers of Gaffa Oil and Gas Limited and Bugon Oil and Gas Limited, respectively.
The 2 were remanded shortly after their separate arraignment before Justice Mohammed Yunusa.
Arraigned and also jailed along with Onabanjo were Sani Idris, 34, and Bode Jonah, 39.
One Solomon Afolabi, 30; and Adesimisola Ogunsanya, 36, were also arraigned along with Gafan and remanded with him.
In the charge filed against Onabanjo and his co-accused, the police prosecutor, M.O. Omosun, alleged that the accused were, on August 15, 2015, caught with 16,000 litres of petrol loaded in several 50 litre jerrycans.
According to Omosun, the petroleum product which the accused dealt in belonged to PPMC and they did so without appropriate licence.
The petroleum product was said to be worth N1.55m.
The prosecutor said Onabanjo and others violated Section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17 of the Revised Edition, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, Act, 2007.
He added that they were liable to punishment under Section 17(b) of the same Act.
Onabanjo and others, however, pleaded not guilty.
In the case of Gafan, the prosecutor accused him and his alleged accomplices of illegally loading 25,000 litres of petrol from a vandalised pipeline into a Mercedes truck with number plate APP 04 QX.
According to the prosecutor, the accused loaded the said quantity of petrol, valued at N1.6m, without obtaining lawful permit from the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company, which owned the petroleum product.
They were said to have committed the same offence on August 15, 2015 in violation of Section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17 of the Revised Edition, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, Act, 2007.
Gafan, Ogunsanya and Afolabi, pleaded not guilty, the prosecutor urged the justice to remand them in prison pending trial.
“My Lord, in view of the plea of the accused persons, we will humbly be asking for a short adjournment date to bring our witnesses to court. We are also asking that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody,” Omosun said.
But the counsel for the defendants, Mr. McAnthony Aikharialea, filed a bail application for them and urged the court to grant it in liberal terms.
Justice Yunusa adjourned till August 28, 2015 to rule on the bail application.

Brothers behead sister and parade her head in the name of honour killing
2 Indian brothers decapitated their teenage sister and paraded her severed head through their village because they disapproved of her 'romantic relationship' with one of their cousins.
Several people watched in horror as Phool Jehan, 17, was dragged out of her house, severely beaten and beheaded by her 2 brothers this past Monday. They however, did not tell the police what had happened.
The crime was only later reported by a local security guard, one officer explained.
According to Indian Times, Police have been unable to find the two brothers, named Nanhe and Gul Hasan, whose ages are not known. After killing their sister, they left her body on the street as they roamed around the north-Indian village with her head.
According to reports, they shouted: 'This is what happens as punishment for having an affair.'
Honour killings are common across India, but such brutal slayings are extremely rare. While the brothers are on the run, police have detained Jehan's cousin to question him, said another police officer.

Honour killings are common across India, but such brutal slayings are extremely rare. While the brothers are on the run, police have detained Jehan's cousin to question him, said another police officer.
